2007 CLIDE Awards Categories
Awards will be distributed in the following categories with emphasis on the 10 Principles of Development Excellence. All 5 categories are open to all eligible entities, including both public-and private-sector entities.
The following categories are applicable for the 2007 Awards cycle. Note: the Awards Jury reserves the right to determine the number of winners for each category.
1. New Development*
Recognizes developments that are constructed on previously undeveloped sites and successfully exemplify many of the 10 Principles of Development Excellence.
2. Redevelopment*
Recognizes developments that re-use existing structures, and/or rebuild and successfully exemplify many of the 10 Principles of Development Excellence.
3. Special Development*
Recognizes projects that may not be as multi-faceted as others such as a sustainable building or an infrastructure project and may only exemplify one or two of the 10 Principles.
4. Raising Public Awareness
Recognizes an organization and/or individual for educating the public or raising awareness of development excellence related issues. Submittals may include, but are not limited to:
- A media outlet in the NCTCOG Region for a story or series;
- An organization or local government for a public education campaign.
5. Public Planning and Policy
Recognizes a local government for implementing a program or policy that facilitates and promotes various aspects of the 10 Principles of Development Excellence. Submittals may include, but are not limited to:
- Adopted policies, programs, ordinances, and guidelines (mixed use, open space, natural features protection, public space, historic preservation, design standards, incentives) that can include a public/private initiative;
- Comprehensive, neighborhood, area or strategic plans.
*Note:
New Development, Redevelopment, or Special Development submittals may include, but are not limited to: large and small-scale projects, single or multiple buildings, residential, mixed use, commercial, transportation projects, recreational and public developments.
