Obesity rates help show overall health trends due to obesity being tied to other health issues. The CDC still divides the NCTCOG area between two Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA). Compared to both the United States and Texas, the Dallas-Plano-Irving MSA was the only area to decrease the obesity rate during the period between 2010 and 2017. The Fort Worth-Arlington MSA and Texas’ obesity growth rate was 4% over the study period, the growth rate of the United Sates was over 14% during the same time.
