North Central Texas Water Quality Management Plan
The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG), as the designated water quality planning agency for the North Central Texas area, is responsible for developing the regional Water Quality Management Plan (WQMP). The historical population growth and projected growth has required and will continue to require water resources planning to address water quality, wastewater capacity, and water supply needs. The WQMP provides data and information regarding potential needs and priorities for improving water quality and continuing regional efforts to meet wastewater capacity needs for the expanding population.
The Closed Landfill Inventory Interactive Map allows users to view Closed, Active, and Inactive Landfills and other waste processing facilities in the North Central Texas Region. The Map also allows for filtering between type, status, and county of landfill and waste processing facilities.

The Stormwater Quality Interactive Web Map allows users to search through Stormwater Quality Data that is collected quarterly, going back to 2007. Users can filter between Year, Quarter, and Government Entities. Linked PDF’s allow users to read and download the reports.
The Regional Building Codes program conducts surveys to determine the use of regional amendments recommended by the Regional Codes Coordinating Committee. The survey also collects information on the status of building codes, the code adoption process, and the needs of local governments for additional assistance related to building codes.
The Regional Flood Warning Software Platform provides a comprehensive look at rainfall and water levels across the North Texas region through a connected network of flood gauges made possible through partnerships with local municipalities and agencies.
The Corridor Development Certificate Program Interactive Web map allows users to view development projects within the 100-year flood plain of the Trinity River.
The Low Water Crossing Reporter allows users to both view and report low water crossings, which in turn enables governments to learn where unknown low water crossings might exist during strong rainfall events. An email is not needed to log in despite a box appearing, just click the avatar picture to bypass and view the Map.
The Transportation Department of NCTCOG has many mapping products that range from static map options to interactive maps. These maps show a wide range of initiatives from bike and pedestrian planning, to travel time planning, to environmental justice.
In 2001, the Regional Transportation Council (RTC) initiated the Sustainable Development Program. The program is designed to encourage planning and foster growth and development in and around historic downtowns and Main Streets, infill areas, and along passenger rail lines and at stations. By allocating transportation funds to land use projects promoting alternative transportation or reduced automobile use, NCTCOG and its regional partners are working to address escalating air quality, congestion, and quality of life issues, and promote economic development through public/private partnerships.
Many cities and counties in our region have developed and adopted bicycle master plans, trail master plans, or a combination of both. Various communities are developing plans for local pedestrian networks and programs to provide safe routes to schools. Numerous cities and transportation agencies have adopted local policies for bicycle accommodations to encourage bicycling as a form of transportation. The number of locally adopted community bicycle and trail master plans in the region grows each year. These documents were used in the development of Mobility 2050 to ensure regional connectivity and continuity.
The Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Interactive Map contains demographic and development related data for the North Central Texas Region’s Rail Stations. This Map displays characteristics of stations and the surrounding areas, development characteristics, and Walkable TOD Districts.
Air Quality Index Scores across the North Central Texas Region. The data source also contains past Quality Index rating and looping data to show previous readings.
511 DFW is a tool to help show relevant information to DFW visitors and residents, such as Road Construction, Traffic Incidents, Traffic Levels, Transit Stops, Weather, and many other options.
Through this portal, you can access a variety of tabular datasets and geographic data layers. The data items available here are those needed by the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) programs and services. However, they can be beneficial outside the agency and are made available as a public service.
The Regional Data Center is a service of the Research and Information Services (RIS) department. RIS provides objective information and analysis on the development of the region for use in planning and economic development activities. Major focus areas include population, employment, land use, development, and geospatial data.
