Between 2010 and 2018, median morning commute time grew in 14 of 16 Counties. During this time, the regional median morning commute grew by 2 minutes, from 23 minutes to 25 minutes. This 2-minute change aggregates to 120,000 hours more per commute per day for the workforce of the entire region NCTCOG region. This growth, at a rate of 8%, is greater than the growth of the Median Commute for both Texas (6%) and the USA (4%).
Data was gathered from ACS table S0801 which asks the time it takes for respondents to travel from home to work. The median commute time is an indicator that can help show how traffic and development patterns are changing within the study area.
